IT was a huge weekend in the German Bundesliga.

Jurgen Klopp took 'champions-elect' Borussia Dortmund to Allianz Arena looking for their first win over Bayern Munich in 20 years, and boy how they delivered.

Much has been said of the talents of Mario Gotze but the attention now turns to Nuri Sahin as man-of-the-match of the game, The Turkish midfielder was excellent in all departments, running the show with intricate passing and an eye on the tempo of the game.

His great vision and eye for goal, as capped by his wonderful finish, means that he is a player to keep an eye out for the future.

He is only 22 and, along with Shinji Kagawa and Gotze, he is surely helping Dortmund to another Bundesliga crown.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

GOALKEEPER

Stefano Sorrentino - Chievo

Sorrentino did all he could to prevent Cesena from beating his team, and looked to have achieved his aim of a clean sheet until a late penalty meant the opposition claimed a priceless point. Nevertheless, a sterling effort from the goalkeeper.

DEFENDERS

Sebastian Prodl - Werder Bremen

Two goals in the last eight minutes helped Werder Bremen draw with Bayer Leverkusen and move them out of the bottom three. Prodl's stoppage time leveler caused wild scenes at Weserstadioin.

Alberto Lopo - Deportivo La Coruna

Deportivo dealt a massive blow to Real Madrid's title hopes after a goalless draw at the Riazor. Goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia pulled off a couple of great saves while Lopo was rock solid, keeping the threat of Ronaldo at bay.

Mats Hummels - Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund took a giant stride to winning the Bundesliga with a fine 3-1 away win against Bayern. Lucas Barrios and Nuri Sahin were also on the scoresheet for the league leaders but Hummels' header secured the points for the visitors.

MIDFIELDERS

Wesley Sneijder - Inter Milan

What a hero Sneijder proved to be for Inter as they renewed their title challenge with a 2-0 away win over Sampdoria. Sneijder scored a stunning freekick to set the Nerazzurri on their way to three points. Samuel Eto'o scored the other goal.

Erik Falkenburg - AZ Alkmaar

There is nothing like coming on as a substitute to score a late winner over the champions Twente. That is what Erik Falkenburg did for Alkmaar.

Andre Ayew - Marseille

He scored twice to help Marseille come from behind against Nancy and record a fourth successive win. The winger bagged one on the stroke of half-time before grabbing the winner in the 86th minute.

Abdoulrazak Boukari - Rennes

Boukari was sold to Rennes in the January transfer window from Lens, so when the two met at Stade de la Route, Boukari scored the second in the home side's 2-0 win.

Lionel Messi - Barcelona

Pedro may have scored a scintillating goal against Real Mallorca but it was another fine Messi show as the Argentine grabbed his 26th goal of the season.

STRIKERS

Alexis Sanchez - Udinese

Udinese were in stunning form against Palermo, running out 7-0 winners away from home with Antonio Di Natale getting a hattrick and his strike partner Sanchez grabbing four — quite stunning.

Marco Di Vaio - Bologna

He returned to haunt his former club Juventus by scoring a brace for Bologna and lift his side into a comfortable mid-table position. The pressure is certainly on Juventus boss Luigi Delneri.

Webo does the trick for Mallorca

MADRID: Mallorca hit back from a half-time deficit to inflict a fifth defeat in six games on Espanyol after a 2-1 Primera Liga victory this morning.

Mallorca had a bad start, missing a ninthminute penalty through Gonzalo Castro, then seeing Espanyol hit the woodwork before falling behind in the 17th minute when Alvaro Vazquez found the net.

However, Michael Laudrup's side deservedly bounced back in the second-half and drew level through the ever-dangerous Pierre Webo (above) in the 63rd minute before Emilio Nsue slotted in the winning goal seven minutes from time.

The win lifted Mallorca onto 34 points, six behind fifth-placed Espanyol, who had ended a run of four successive defeats with a 4-1 home triumph over Real Sociedad last weekend.

Meanwhile, Sevilla moved level with sixth-placed Athletic Bilbao and the European spots after comfortably seeing off 10-men Sporting Gijon 3-0 at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in another match.

The game was as good as settled in an eight-minute spell midway through the first-half when Luis Fabiano and Diego Perotti scored for Sevilla and Sporting had midfielder Sebastian Eguren sent off.

Eguren was shown a straight red card in the same incident that saw Luis Fabiano put Sevilla ahead from the penalty spot.

Sevilla added a third goal after the break through Alvaro Negredo as Gregorio Manzano's men moved on to 36 points with Athletic Bilbao, who face Real Zaragoza tomorrow (3am), while Sporting remain just a point above the relegation zone.
