KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian squash queen and world No. 1 Nicol David stamped her supremacy in front of the home fans to claim her seventh Kuala Lumpur Open Squash Championships title here on Sunday.

Her previous victories in the tournament came in 2000, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2010.

Nicol outclassed Ireland's Madeline Perry in straight sets, winning 11-6, 11-6, 11-2 in just 34 minutes.

"I knew it would be a tough match. I've once lost to her and I did not want to let her confidence taking over the game.

"It looked like an easy game but it wasn't. I had to work extra hard to not let her play her game," Nicol said after her victory, which was worth US$8,550 (RM27,360).

In the men's final, top seed and world No. 3, Karim Darwish defeated his compatriot Mohamed El Shorbagy 11-9, 11-9, 11-3 in 52 minutes to clinch his first win of the 2011 season.

"It was one of my best matches in KL. I've never won the title before.

"Shorbagy is among the top players now. His game was very attack-oriented and I had to work extra hard to win the match," he added.

CHENNAI, India (AP): Sachin Tendulkar is playing his 450th one-day international in Sunday's World Cup Group B game against West Indies.

Tendulkar extends his ODI appearance record to six more than Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya, who is second on the list of most capped players and is the only other man to have played more than 400 ODIs.

Tendulkar is also one short of an incredible 100 centuries in international cricket. The world's most prodigious run scorer has a record 51 test centuries and 48 ODI hundreds for India and needs another century for a milestone that may never be matched.

The 37-year-old Tendulkar made his ODI debut in 1989 and is playing at his sixth World Cup. He needs 47 at Chennai to become the first man to 18,000 ODI runs.
